Reporting a wrong answer

This is the message worth sending. A calculator that is confidently wrong is worse than no calculator, so these get looked at first. To make it reproducible, include:

• The tool, or the URL of the page you were on.
• The exact values you entered, including the units and any options you changed — compounding frequency, overtime threshold, ingredient, and so on.
• The number the tool gave you.
• The number you expected, and where it came from: a lender’s statement, a payslip, a published table, another calculator.
• Your browser and device, if the problem looks like a display bug.

Suggesting a tool

Useful suggestions describe the situation rather than the tool: what you were trying to work out, what you tried instead, and what made the existing options unsatisfactory. A tool gets built when the sum is common, the arithmetic has a detail that other calculators get wrong, and the whole thing can run in the browser without sending your numbers anywhere.

Advertising and business enquiries

Advertising on this site is sold through Google AdSense, not directly, so there is nothing to negotiate over placement or pricing. Enquiries about the site itself — press, partnerships, or a problem with an ad you have seen on one of these pages — reach the same address.

If a specific advertisement was misleading, offensive or broken, say which page you saw it on and roughly when. Ads are served by Google and chosen by Google, but they can be blocked from appearing here once we know which one you mean.

Privacy and data requests

Because nothing you type into a tool is transmitted or stored, there is usually nothing on our side to access, correct or delete. Requests under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA are still welcome and will be answered — in most cases the answer is an explanation of what does and does not exist, which the privacy policy sets out in full.

What to expect

• One person reads this inbox. Replies usually take a few days, and occasionally longer; there is no service commitment behind that.
• Bug reports get a reply even when the answer is “that is working as intended, and here is why”.
• We cannot give financial, tax, legal, employment or medical advice, and cannot review your particular mortgage, payslip or tax position. The tools are general-purpose arithmetic; the terms of use explain where that line sits.
